Emanuele Coccia is a maÎtre de conférence at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris, after teaching the History of Medieval Philosophy at Freiburg University in Germany. A specialist of Averroes as well as of the medieval and modern averroisms, he has drawn from it an original interpretation of the nature of images and of the medial nature of sensitivity, overcoming the dualism between subject and object. Among his books: La trasparenza delle immagini. Averroè e l’Averroismo (Milano 2005); La vita sensibile (Bologna 2011); Il bene nelle cose. La pubblicità come discorso morale (Bologna 2014). He has moreover edited, with Giorgio Agamben, the anthology Angeli. Ebraismo, Cristianesimo, Islam (Milano 2009).
