Georges Vigarello is directeur d’études at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris, where he is also the Co-Director of the Centre Edgar Morin. In his historical and anthropological studies he has dealt with the topics of hygiene and health, as well as with the cultural representation of the body.
